When the summer arrives to the west coast of Norway, something special happens… We move our life outside, eat breakfast, lunch and dinner on the porch, and stay up til way to late to enjoy the summer night.
When the heat comes (this is not very often as it is by the coast) we make the most of it, and eat a very simple but very beautiful meal called REKE.
This boiled shrimps, in a huge bowl for everyone to share, each person grabs as much as they want and start peeling, when you think you have enough for a slice of mamas home made sourdough you fill it up with shrimp and squeeze lemon on top, some use mayo others butter, but the main thing is the shrimp.
Mmmm! Can’t wait for summer and the chats around the table as we all gather for a REKE FEST!
